September was filled with several outings with family and friends. The rainy
season is coming to an end, but the temperatures remain in the upper 70s.
We bought our casa in 2017 and have decided to do a couple
home improvements. In addition to painting, we are adding a carport over the
driveway and making better use of the driveway.
Another project is to move the gas tank from the driveway to
under our stairs. We are also having a shed built for our bikes, golf clubs and
miscellaneous stuff like coolers and paint cans.
Mexico celebrates its Independence Day from Spain, but
rather than a one-day festivities, Mexico's parties go on for three to four
days, some as long as a week.
We attended one celebration on a local soccer field where dozens
of un-manned hot air balloons were launched in the skies.
These balloons are handmade and used one time. Here are a
few we enjoyed watching.
After three tries, this balloon finally took off into the air and
stayed up.
We took a three-day trip to Houston to take care of a Basil Cell
Carcinoma using a MOUS Procedure. They cut one layer of skin, check it for
cancer, and kept up this routine until no more cancer was found.
While in Houston, we saw friends Kindred (daughter) and mother
Karen from KY. Kindred was
twenty-three when she had a stem cell transplant the same week Larry
had his. Her cancer came back so she has had a second transplant a different
procedure.
While in Houston, Larry checked out new hair styles.
Fortunately, he choose not to go with the Mohawk look. Nancy was our go-to
stylist which we both used while in Houston.
Back in Ajijic, we found Lake Chapala water levels higher than
usual. This building is a restaurant on stilts with a cool mural. The greenery
below is called Lirio and considered an aquatic weed that floats.
We joined Wayne and Maureen for dinner before they departed
on a 59-day cruise around the Pacific. They flew to Hawaii, boarded the ship
and headed to Tahiti, New Zealand, Australia and on to China.
As we were driving down the main drag of Ajijic, we saw these
interesting table sets. Someone used discarded oil barrels, cleaned them up and
made them into a wonderful conversation piece.
A week after surgery, Larry had his stitches removed. Our
doctor was impressed with how well the wound was healing and suggested that
it will be unnoticeable in no time!
Since arriving in Ajijic, we attended three live theatrical
performances and this Concert in the Park. It was called "On the Dance Floor"
and that is exactly what we were!
One day, as we were taking a walk, we ran across this small
manufacturing company run by a couple of 20-year-old entrepreneurs. Here
their robot is cutting pieces from wood that they use to assemble toys.
Here is a sample of their products, some battery powered motor
cycles and dune buggies. Some are custom products designed by their customers.
They were bilingual and loved to practice their English.
